Postdoctoral position at the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine

par Secretaire - 9 février 2017

Within the Human Brain Project (HBP), our group is investigating G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs)-induced neuronal cascades governing key memory and learning processes. Together with other European labs (the BISI lab of the Institut de Biologie et Chimie des Protéines at Lyon (France), the Molecular and Chemical Modelling group at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (Germany), the Molecular Modelling and Bioinformatics group of the IRB Barcelona (Spain), the Laboratory of Computational Chemistry and Biochemistry at EPFL Lausanne (Switzerland)) The postdoc will characterize microscopic processes occurring in the neuronal cascades such as protein-ligand association/dissociation and enzymatic reactions by performing classical molecular dynamics and employing enhanced sampling methods like metadynamics.

The Post-Doc position is extendable up to 2 years.

Salary and social benefits are in conformity with the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service (TVöD).

The Jülich Research Center is one of the largest research centers in Germany, with excellent scientific equipment and leading European computational resources, located on a green campus, and near the cultural centers Köln, Düsseldorf, and Aachen.

The Jülich Research Center aims to employ more women in this area and therefore particularly welcomes applications from women. We also welcome applications from disabled persons.

Required qualification of the postdoc : The postdoctoral candidate should hold a PhD degree in physics, theoretical chemistry, applied mathematics, or in a related field. Background/experience in classical MD simulations of biological systems. Fluency in English is also required.
