Temporary contract – 12 months

For our site in Toulouse, France, we are looking for a highly motivated Computational Chemist. Within the Research Informatics Department, you will work in collaboration with the Chemistry Department in Medicinal Chemistry projects

Responsibilities : Provide Drug Discovery and Drug Design support (structure based & ligand based) to small molecules projects and realize key contributions to milestones : targets validation, hits identification, leads & candidates optimization. Provide Cheminformatics support to screening and medicinal chemistry teams for virtual screening, hits analysis, hits expansion, libraries design, scaffold hopping, QSAR and ADMET modeling, multi-parametric optimization. Interact constructively with internal and collaborative project teams. Adapt scientific knowledge to resolve research problems encountered in achieving defined goals with assistance from line managers or other team leaders to meet internal and project deadlines Gather and diffuse pertinent news from the scientific literature in computational chemistry. Present own work at project technical meetings, and department technical meetings. Write and contribute to publications and patents where possible. Participate actively to the scientific life of Research Informatics Department and Evotec France.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Expertise in computational drug discovery and drug design of small molecules : molecular modeling, homology modeling, docking, virtual screening, pharmacophore screening, ligand-based searches, scaffold hopping, clustering, QSAR and ADMET models, multi-parametric optimization, and visualization. Good knowledge of softwares and technologies used in computational chemistry, structural biology, discovery and design of molecules, including MOE, SeeSAR, LeadIT, ChemAxon, Gold, FTrees, Spark, Torch, and Knime. Good knowledge of therapeutic targets classes including kinases, GPCRs, enzymes, proteases, ion channels. Good knowledge of chemical and biochemical databases including PDB, CSD, ChEMBL, DrugBank, PubChem Scientific rigor and excellent analytical and synthetic capabilities. Capability to work with inter-disciplinary teams. Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients. Ability to adapt in terms of novel priorities and to make constructive recommendations or suggestions. Dynamic personality with passion for innovation and problem-solving and a willingness to apply core areas of knowledge to new areas of interest to Evotec and its clients. Fluency in written and spoken English and French

Education and Experience PhD in Computational Chemistry or Structural Bioinformatics Experience in drug design and drug discovery (2-5 years) in the biotech, pharmaceutical industry or academy. Good publications track record
