The successful candidate will work as part of the European Research Council (ERC) funded project topDFT (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/rc...). The project is directed by Dr. Andy Teale (http://teale.chem.nottingham.ac.uk) and brings together a team of researchers to develop a novel new approach to the exchange—correlation problem in density functional theory. Candidates should have a strong background in the development of density-functional or ab initio quantum chemical methods. The appointed candidate will have the opportunity to help plan and conduct a programme of research supported by state of the art high performance computing facilities.

Candidates should have (or be about to complete) a PhD in computational/theoretical chemistry, theoretical physics, or a related discipline and have a proven research record in computational modelling of chemical problems, including method development. Excellence in theoretical and computational chemistry is essential. The successful candidate can look forward to working in a well-resourced environment within the Computational Chemistry Group, and to developing the necessary transferable skills to be an independent researcher.

Also essential are good communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with senior and junior colleagues and a good publication track record in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with the stage of career. Attention will also be paid to the candidate’s experience in the supervision and coordination of masters and PhD level students.

This full-time post is available on a fixed-term contract for a period of two years and is available immediately.
